Clara
Valero is a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Manchester in
the Manchester Fungal Infection Group led by Prof. Michael Bromley. Her
research focuses on determining the molecular mechanisms that allow the human
fungal pathogen Aspergillus fumigatus to cause pulmonary infections and
overcome antifungal therapies. She has worked on understanding the
transcriptional machinery that allows A. fumigatus to adapt to stress
conditions upon infection and treatment and recently she has begun to uncover
novel genetic drivers that promote antifungal tolerance in this major human
fungal pathogen.
